Congress Electoral Information Mission to Gagauzia

Gagauzia (Republic of Moldova), 17 November 2016 - A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will carry out an Electoral Information Mission to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia from 17 to 21 November, in the context of the Elections of the Popular Assembly to be held on 20 November. The Congress delegation will be headed by Sevdia Ugrekhelidze (Georgia, EPP/CCE).

Meetings are scheduled on 18 November in Comrat with Irina Vlah, Bashkan (Governor) of the Autonomous Territorial Unit (ATU) Gagauzia, Ivan Komur, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of ATU Gagauzia, as well as Dmitri Konstantinov and Alexandr Tarnavschi, respectively  Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Popular Assembly of ATU Gagauzia. The delegation will also meet with the Gagauz citizens observers organisation “Piligrim-Demo”.

On 19 November, a meeting will be held with Alina Russu, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Republic of Moldova.

On Election Day, 20 November, the Congress will deploy teams from Chisinau to spot-check selected polling locations in Gagauzia.
