Committee of Ministers reviews the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights

Strasbourg, 14.06.2016 – On 7 and 8 June, representatives of the 47 member states of the Council of Europe held their 1259th “Human Rights” meeting at which they examined the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in keeping with the supervisory role of the Committee of Ministers, under Article 46 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The list of cases subject to a more detailed examination and the decisions adopted at this meeting appear on the website of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and also on the Committee of Ministers website.

The Committee also decided that, in future, after each of its “Human Rights” meetings, it would publish a draft list of cases proposed for more detailed examination at its next “Human Rights” meeting. The list is purely for guidance at this stage and cases could be added or removed depending on the circumstances.

The next meeting devoted to examining the implementation of Court judgments will be held from 20 to 22 September. The cases proposed at this stage for the meeting concern Albania, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Malta, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation, Serbia, “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, Turkey and Ukraine.

Information on the current state of execution of all the cases pending before the Committee of Ministers can be found on the website of the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
