FUNCTIONING AND INTER-RELATION

OF THE EUROPEAN YOUTH CENTRES

Guidelines for the management of the European Youth Centres

Decisions

The Deputies

1.    took note with satisfaction of the opening of the European Youth Centre in Budapest on 15 December 1995; the functioning of the Centre will be evaluated three years from that date;

2.    reaffirmed the importance of the Budapest European Youth Centre in the implementation of the Council of Europe youth policy in the context of the enlargement of the Organisation;

3.    approved the "Guidelines" on operating rules for the Strasbourg and Budapest European Youth Centres and their integration within the activities of the Youth Directorate and other sectors of the Council of Europe, set out in Appendix 12 to the present volume of Decisions, and instructed the Secretary General to ensure that they are applied;

4.    decided to resume consideration of the resources required by the Budapest Centre when they discuss the Council of Europe's budget for 1997.

Decision

The Deputies adopted the text which appears in Appendix 13 to the present volume of Decisions and decided to address it to the European Steering Committee for Intergovernmental Co-operation in the Youth Field (CDEJ), in reply to that Committee's Message, and to the Parliamentary Assembly, in reply to Recommendation 1293 (1996).
