Committee of Ministers: Estonia hands over chairmanship to Cyprus

The Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe today passed from Estonia to Cyprus, at a meeting at the Organisation's Strasbourg headquarters, attended by representatives of its 47 member States.

Before handing over the chairmanship to his successor, the outgoing Chair, Jürgen Ligi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Estonia, gave an overview of his country’s achievements during its chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers.

The new Chair of the Committee of Ministers, Ioannis Kasoulides, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, presented the priorities of the Cypriot Chairmanship which will run for six months as of today.

Comité des Ministres : l’Estonie transmet la présidence à Chypre

La Présidence du Comité des Ministres du Conseil de l’Europe est passée aujourd’hui de l’Estonie à Chypre au cours d’une réunion qui s’est tenue à Strasbourg, au siège de l’Organisation, en présence des représentants de ses 47 Etats membres.

Avant de transmettre la présidence à son successeur, le Président sortant Jürgen Ligi, Ministre des Affaires Etrangères de l’Estonie, a présenté au Comité des Ministres le bilan de la présidence de son pays.

Le nouveau Président du Comité des Ministres, Ioannis Kasoulides, Ministre des Affaires étrangères de Chypre, a ensuite exposé les priorités de la présidence chypriote débutant aujourd’hui pour les six mois à venir.
