I. Reports presented

* Action Plan for the promotion of the Council of Europe values and standards in Georgia and the Russian Federation
- SG/Inf(2008)19 (21 October 2008)

Presented in response to the decision taken by Ministers' Deputies at their 1038th meeting (15 October 2008) inviting the Secretary General to provide:

a) proposals for the implementation of part A of the Action Plan, together with their financial implications;

b) an overview of the state of implementation by Georgia and the Russian Federation of their commitments and obligations;

c) an overview of co-operation and assistance programmes with Georgia and the Russian Federation, as well as proposals for the future.

* Council of Europe activities following the conflict in Georgia
- SG/Inf(2009)04 (17 February 2009)

Presented in response to a letter of 6 February 2009 from the Chair of Ministers' Deputies inviting the Secretary General to submit a document taking stock of activities undertaken by the Council of Europe in relation to the "Russia-Georgia crisis" and activities which have recently been adopted by the Administrative Council of the Council of Europe Development Bank.

* The Council of Europe and the conflict in Georgia - Activities for the promotion of Council of Europe values and standards
- SG/Inf(2009)5 (25 March 2009)

Presented in response to a decision by the Ministers' Deputies at their 1048th meeting (11-12 February 2009) to provide them with "an update of the report which he had submitted in document SG/Inf(2008)19 on the initiatives carried out, under way or planned within the Council of Europe to address the consequences of the conflict between Georgia and the Russian Federation, including information on the findings of the various monitoring mechanisms of the Council of Europe and an overview of activities of the European Court of Human Rights, the Parliamentary Assembly and the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities related to the conflict."

* Report on the human rights situation in the areas affected by the conflict in Georgia - First report
- SG/Inf(2009)7 (16 April 2009)

Presented in response to a decision by the Ministers' Deputies at their 1048th meeting (11-12 February 2009) inviting the Secretary General to "report on regular basis on the human rights situation in the areas affected by the conflict, in close co-operation with the Commissioner for Human Rights, and using all available sources of information, so as to provide the Committee of Ministers with a basis for an assessment of the situation and possible decision on action."

II. Future reports

* Report on the human rights situation in the areas affected by the conflict in Georgia

The first quarterly report was presented on 16 April. In view of the summer break in the Deputies' meetings, the Secretary General intends to present the second report at their 1062nd meeting on 1 July 2009.

The third report is scheduled for the beginning of October 2009.

* The Council of Europe and the conflict in Georgia - Activities for the promotion of Council of Europe values and standards

An up-to-date addendum to this report (SG/Inf(2009)5) will be issued with a view to being presented to the Deputies on 1 July 2009. In accordance with the decisions of the Ministerial Meeting on 12 May 2009 in Madrid, a review of action taken by the Council of Europe following the conflict in Georgia will be prepared for the handover of chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers on 18 November 2009.
