Resolution 131 (2002)1 on local and regional democracy in Greece
1. Having examined the situation of local and regional democracy in Greece in the light of the report prepared by Mr Guido Rhodio (Italy, L) and Mr Lambert Van Nistelrooij (Netherlands, R), and having regard to its Recommendation 109 (2002) on the subject;
2. Having regard to the major reforms that should be introduced in Greece with the administrative reorganisation that will affect local and regional government and its financing,
a. to closely monitor implementation of the recommendation on the situation of local and regional democracy in Greece;
b. to present a new report on the subject when the reforms have been defined;
c. to provide for the organisation in Greece as soon as possible of a colloquy on the problems of regionalisation;
d. to regularly invite the representatives of the Greek delegation to the CLRAE to events related to local and regional self-government organised by the Congress in member states;
e. to invite the Greek Government to present the new legislative reforms to the Congress, possibly at its 2003 plenary session, prior to the preparation of the second report on the situation of local and regional democracy in Greece.
