One, two, three… fourth Palme d'Or for Eurimages! 

Strasbourg, 23.05.2005 – “L'Enfant”, a Franco-Belgian co-production by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, supported by the Council of Europe's European cinema support fund Eurimages, was awarded the Palme d'Or at the closing ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday. (*)

A second film selected in the official competition, “Caché” by Michael Haneke, was awarded the prize for “Best Screenplay”. A co-production between France, Austria, Germany and Italy, this film was supported by Eurimages in April 2004. It also won the Critic's prize and that of the Ecumenical Jury.

(*) "Dancer in the Dark" by Lars von Trier was awarded the Palme d'Or in 2000, "L'éternité et un jour" by Théo Angelopoulos in 1998 and "Underground" by Emir Kusturica in 1995.

Eurimages is a support fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works. Created in 1988 by the Council of Europe, it currently brings together 30 member states. Since its creation, Eurimages has supported 1025 European co-productions to a total of 295 579 651 euros.
