Council of Europe Conference “Visibility and Recognition of Roma Culture: Putting Roma Culture on the Map”

Date: 7 October 2010

Place: Council of Europe, Agora Building, Strasbourg, France

Description: Finding out more about the Roma heritage and way of life. Heritage partners and Roma representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Romania and Slovenia, will explore, celebrate and develop best practice in making Roma culture visible across Europe.

This heritage conference marks the official launch of the 'Roma Routes' project - a project supported by the Council of Europe, in partnership with heritage organisations, showcasing Roma culture to create a Roma Route of Culture and Heritage. The aim is to allow Roma culture to be seen and understood, away from political and social tensions, through song, dance, artefacts, family history, food and customs.
