Action

To adopt the following decisions.

The 16th High-level “3+3” meeting between the Council of Europe and the OSCE will take place in New York on 21 September 2006 at the initiative of the Belgian Presidency of the OSCE, which has proposed the draft agenda appearing in the appendix to the present Notes.

In the light of the information communicated by the Chair, as well as by the Belgian delegation on behalf of the Presidency of the OSCE, the Deputies will have the opportunity to express their expectations regarding the content and results of this meeting and to make any comments they deem appropriate in order that the participants in the meeting can take them into account in their discussions.

Financing assured: YES.

1. took note of the agenda of the meeting, as it appears in the appendix to the present Notes;

2. agreed to examine the results of the meeting at their 974th meeting (27 September 2006), with a view to determining the follow-up to be given.

    1. Co-operation between the Council of Europe and the OSCE:
    a. the fight against terrorism;
    b. the protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities;
    c. the fight against trafficking in human beings;
    d. the promotion of tolerance and non-discrimination.

    3. Any other business.
