Action

To take note of the meeting report (2 and 3 February 2006) of the Ad hoc Committee of Experts on Buildings (CAHB), as it appears in document CM(2006)28.

Item proposed for adoption without debate.

1. The Ad hoc Committee of Experts on Buildings (CAHB) met in February 2006 mainly to review progress of the two new construction projects, namely the new general building (NBGEN) and the new building for the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (NBDEQM). Its report is set out in document CM(2006)28. The CAHB also examined the fire conformity and renovation project for the European Youth Centre situated in Strasbourg (EYCS) (included in the investment plan for the years 2006-2008) (CM(2006)28, §8). The CAHB was of the opinion that if a policy decision was taken to undertake fire conformity and renovation works in the EYCS the works should be carried out in parallel. The Secretary General will come back to this question at a later stage.

2. This item was examined by the GR-AB at its meeting on 9 March 2006 (see GR-AB(2006)CB2). The GR-AB agreed to submit the draft decision as revised below for adoption without debate by the Deputies.

Financing assured: YES
