5th session of the European Conference of Ministers responsible for Cultural Heritage

(6-7 April 2001, Portoroz, Slovenia)

 

In November 1999 (687/1.5), the Ministers' Deputies noted that the theme of this Conference would be "Europe, a common heritage campaign - consideration of the results and follow-up perspectives".

 

At their joint meeting on 5 and 6 October 2000, the Preparatory Group set up by the Cultural Heritage Committee to prepare the Conference and the Bureau of the Cultural Heritage Committee refined the theme as follows:

 

“Cultural heritage and the challenge of globalisation: Cultural heritage, an instrument for dialogue and social cohesion: Evaluation of the "Europe, a common heritage" Campaign.”

 

Sub-themes

            1st theme          Heritage and market dynamics

2nd theme        Heritage, dialogue and cohesion

3rd theme         Heritage, participation and partnership

 

Draft decision:

 

The Deputies noted that the theme of the 5th Session of the European Conference of Ministers responsible for Cultural Heritage will be “Cultural heritage and the challenge of globalisation: Cultural heritage, an instrument for dialogue and social cohesion: Evaluation of the "Europe, a common heritage" Campaign”, and that the sub-themes will be:

- Heritage and market dynamics

- Heritage, dialogue and cohesion

- Heritage, participation and partnership.
